It's been almost six months since Borderlands 3 released, and the game is deep in its first year of DLC support that has become a staple for huge multiplayer games these days. Following this pattern of add-on content, Gearbox has released the Spring Content Map for the game's coming updates.

With the new content getting prepped for Borderlands 3, it appears that Gearbox has plenty of new material ready to roll out, but looking back at previous DLC in the series, how will it measure up. While the recently announced Guns, Love, and Tentacles looks like it could be a blast, with just the right level of humor, fan service, and of course guns, the bar for DLC was set pretty high back with Borderlands 2.

Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep was easily the best DLC in Borderlands 2

It's hard to top a DLC like Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, and looking at how it went out of its way to create an entirely new world filled with nonsensical stories and monsters, we can see why. Framing a story around a fictional D&D campaign gave the developers room to push whatever crazy idea they had in the series, from a gun that launches exploding swords, to special "magic spell" grenade mods that may very well be the best in the series. This setup allowed for something that had been otherwise unobtainable when sticking strictly to the world of Borderlands.

Borderlands isn't even the only game series to go crazy with the DLC. Other big games, like Red Dead Redemption and Saints Row have completely thrown away the reality of the world they are set in in order to create some of the most memorable add-on campaigns of all time. Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmares DLC was so popular that when rumors started circulating about a return in Red Dead Redemption 2, fans went until Rockstar finally responded and shut down that speculation.

These huge left turns make players feel less cheated

It isn't news that players have a certain love-hate relationship when it comes to DLC and add-on content. In most cases, it's the add-on content that fits into the story, and sometimes either serves as an epilogue or a lead in to the next in the series, that leaves players with a spoiled taste for their purchase. Take the latest Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC for example, as the content managed to deliver on almost every aspect that veteran players had asked for, but since ReMind's story was mostly used to clear up the base game, some fans still had a negative reaction to it.

As a result, when a DLC campaign takes the player somewhere new and completely irrelevant to the original story, that is when players feel that they aren't being swindled. No one could pretend to argue that Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is important to the overall arc that the series has followed of vault hunters tracking down vaults across the galaxy. So in that case, charging players to play through the campaign feels less like charging to complete an unfinished story and becomes an opportunity for players to explore something completely unexpected. Even if it were another D&D based campaign, many would still see it as something unexpected in Borderlands 3.
Dungeon's & Dragons is more popular than ever
If Gearbox ever intended to re-explore the concepts from the Bunkers & Badasses tabletop game that they created for Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, now would be the best time to do it. Between pop culture phenomenons like Stranger Things bringing D&D into the mainstream view and web series like Critical Role, tabletop games have gained a heavy resurgence in the past few years. With more players than ever crafting epic characters and heading out on grand adventures than ever, this is almost something that Gearbox can't afford to miss out on.

There's even room to include Critical Role into another one of these tabletop inspired, with voice actors like Laura Bailey having already provided voice work for Borderlands before. Gearbox can even take inspiration from the current Critical Role campaign for how to direct a second adventure into Bunkers & Badasses, especially if they want to make something fresh that doesn't just try to recapture the lightning in a bottle. However, that being said, there are certainly more tabletop games to draw inspiration from, and one impressive game could be an even better dive for the series.

Call of Cthulhu would make for an excellent DLC
While D&D is obviously the powerhouse of tabletop games, some fans of the genre might be interested in seeing Borderlands branch out to other popular titles. Call of Cthulhu stands as another one of those well-known tabletop adventurers, although not quite as popular as D&D it's fame did still earn it a video game title under the same name, and a number of similarly inspired games. Inspired by the Lovecraft Cthulhu Mythos, the game's themes could make for a delightful campaign as the godlike entities attempt to grandly boast about their power before being shot in the face by a vault hunter.

In fact, it would seem that Gearbox isn't too afraid of approaching the Cthulhu Mythos for Borderlands 3 as the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC seems to be heavily inspired by a Lovecraftian art style and enemy types. This new campaign may be the closest we get to a full dive into Eldritch horrors while equipped with a shotgun and rocket launcher. However, this could still be the off-the-rails adventure, battling old ones and cosmic horrors, that fans of the genre have been hoping for.

The wacky story has the most heart

So, we've talked for a while about Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep without going to into detail on the story, but now its time to get into spoiler territory. For the most part, the adventure takes the player through an abridged, fantasy version of the main Borderlands 2 campaign, with a few differences for comedic effect and based on Tiny Tina's perspective. However, the turning point comes towards the end, where Tina seems to have trouble accepting the Roland's death at the hands of Handsome Jack.

This provided for one of the most heartfelt moments in the entire series, with Brick, Mordecai, and Lilith all comforting Tina and helping her get over the loss. To a degree, what Tina is going through here is what games like D&D and even Borderlands itself is about, escapism. Many fans have high hopes fro Guns, Love, and Tentacles, and given the series' past, there may be more in this fun little adventure than meets the eye.

In a rather unorthodox addition to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, new virtual pets called Tomogunchis have been released for the game, parodying the Tamagotchi line of products. A player's Tomogunchi is displayed on an in-game, cosmetic wristwatch, which can be purchased as part of the Tomogunchi bundle from the Modern Warfare Store.
When the watch is equipped to a Modern Warfare player's loadout, the Tomogunchis will appear on the watch, beginning in an egg, then hatching, growing, and ultimately evolving based on a variety of measures of the player's performance in a match. Taking care of a this pixelated pet requires attention and maintenance though, without which it can die.

While in a match, players can check on their Tomogunchi at any time by pressing up on the d-pad. Images representing the moods "Hungry, Dirty, Unruly, and Sleepy" are shown on the right side of the watch, the absence of all of which means that the pet is happy and well taken care of. These moods are maintained through getting killstreaks, kills playing the objective, or winning games. If raised properly and attentively, a Tomogunchi will move from the stages of being an egg to a baby, child, teen, and then adult.

In addition, Tomogunchis can be evolved more quickly than usual via the bonus charge meter, which appears at the bottom of the watch screen, below the pet. Each pet has its own way of filling this meter, the listed methods for this being capturing objectives, planting bombs, placing in the top three on a winning team, or again, achieving killstreaks. Additionally, bonus charges can be stored via the "Watch Interact" gesture.

Activision's announcement post on the Tomogunchis offer a few other hints on how they'll function. For example, the existence of various hidden secrets, options, and forms for the pets is heavily implied. In addition, it seems that they can die from old age, as an adult pet is shown turning into a ghost while having no visible problems with mood.

Though some fans seem unhappy that Tomogunchis were announced instead of the upcoming Warzone mode, this is still a fascinating new feature. After all, regardless of whether players will be able to handle their newfound responsibility of pet ownership in a firefight, one almost needs to strangely admire the creativity and audacity it took to introduce a pet simulator into Call of Duty.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows has arrived and the game has all of the explosiveness, uniqueness, and over the top aspects as the anime. The game arrived on February 28, 2020, with a single-player campaign, but also with an online and local multiplayer experience.

The multiplayer mode for A Hero Nobody Knows can not be played initially and must be unlocked. But fear not, as the multiplayer mode is jus a few punches away.

How to Unlock the Multiplayer Mode in One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows

As previously mentioned, multiplayer is not immediately available to players. To unlock the multiplayer mode for One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, fighters must play and progress through the story mode. Specifically, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 must be completed in their entirety. The reviews for One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows have been fair, but for the players who are looking to only play multiplayer, the repetitive nature of the missions may be a bit of a drag.

Once Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are complete, players will be able to take the bus to the Association HQ, where they can meet up with a receptionist. This receptionist will unlock the multiplayer mode for the game. Here players can start to enjoy the rather large cast of characters in A Hero Nobody Knows.

One Punch Man burst onto the anime scene in 2015 for its goofy hook, with its protagonist, Saitama, having the ability to take down his enemies with one single punch. Sometimes this takedown is in soft and comical fashion, and other times it comes in epic awe-inspiring anime glory. The game attempts to pull from this as well, as seen in the opening cinematic of A Hero Nobody Knows.

Time will tell if One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows has the same hook and appeal as the anime. It does seem that the game does a fine job of pulling from its source material with a combination of humor and high octane action. The story mode may not have long legs, as it could be a one and done experience, but it is enjoyable enough. Meanwhile, the multiplayer mode with an expansive cast of characters has the potential to bring smiles to fans of the anime.

Halo Combat Evolved gameplay screenshot

Ever since its release back in November of 2014, 343 Industries has continued to update and improve Halo: The Master Chief Collection. However, it was recently confirmed that 343 Industries will be working on adding a new element to the game that longtime Halo fans have been requesting for quite a while.

Halo is an unequivocal mainstay of the gaming community. It is easily one of the most influential and long-lasting gaming franchises of all time. The first installment, Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2001 and helped pioneer the first-person shooter genre. Additionally, Combat Evolved just had a surprise release on Steam earlier today.

Since taking over ownership of the Halo franchise from Bungie, 343 Industries has been in charge of the continued development of new Halo games, with Halo: The Master Chief Collection being one of them. Since its release, 343 Industries continues to add additional content and features to The Master Chief Collection, but today announced that it will be bringing back the original sound effects of Halo: Combat Evolved.

The classic sound design of the original Halo: Combat Evolved is a point of nostalgia for many longtime fans of the series. However, when 343 went back and remade Combat Evolved for The Master Chief Collection, the company revamped the sound design. Now that fans have made their requests known, 343 has confirmed that the development team will go back and add an option that allows players to hear the sound design of the original game while playing through the campaign. This option will also be included for the recently released PC version of the game as well.

With so much disparity between what the gaming community wants and what the gaming industry thinks the community wants, it's nice to see a studio that not only actively listens, but also delivers. Not to mention the large scope of additional content that 343 Industries continues to release for a game that has existed for six years. Just last month, the studio added a new freeze tag mode for multiplayer.

However, with all of this being said, it's hard to predict what the future of the Halo franchise will be. Halo Infinite was announced back in 2018 and there is still so much that the gaming community does not know about in this game. It's possible that more details regarding the game will be revealed at E3 2020, but for now, fans will just have to wait to find out.

A Call of Duty Modern Warfare video shows off some leaked footage of the training mode for Warzone, which most know by now is Modern Warfare's upcoming, unannounced, battle royal game mode. Fans may recognize some of the footage already, though.
The video released a couple of weeks ago but presumably ended up being removed due to its content. However, in what seems like a case of irony, the video was reinstated today, when most fans believed that Infinity Ward and Activision would finally release Warzone, or at least, announce it.

The Warzone video comes from TheGamingRevolution, who pieced it together with help from Twitter user Evilpie1112 and Reddit user ARedWerewolf. It showcases the setting in which the Warzone's training mode takes place: the Armistice Training Facility. The facility works to catch up players that are new to battle royals while also displaying how Modern Warfare plans to handle the game mode.

To start, the facility familiarizes players with "Plunder," which will act as Warzone's currency. Players can collect Plunder through various means, such as looting the map, killing enemy players, or completing contracts. Once a player has enough of this currency, they can use it to buy supplies, like perks, weapons, killstreaks, equipment, field upgrades, and Drop Kit markers. The Drop Kits themselves will provide players with whatever loadouts they customized it with before loading into the Warzone game mode; they'll do this through the "Drop Kit" section in the Warzone multiplayer menu.

The training mode itself starts the player off with looting the facility for loot caches, weapon crates, and Plunder. The weapon crates, will, of course, contain weapons of varying rarities like Uncommon, and Legendary. The rarer the gun, the more powerful it will be. As they're looting, the player will be able to shoot targets set up all across the field to warm up since the Warzone training mode doesn't pit them against others.

Considering Warzone leaks like this have admittedly taught fans more about the game mode than Infinity Ward or Activision have, it's likely -- or, at least, within Acitivion's best interest -- that the respective developer and publisher will address it soon. Today's update may have only introduced Tomogunchi Watches, but March 10 may yield a more hoped-for announcement. It's also possible that despite what the glitches may imply, Activision and Infinity Ward just aren't ready to release Warzone yet.

With the Fortnite World Cup 2019, information about the upcoming Fortnite tournament wasn’t made available until the end of February. So potential competitors for the 2020 championship expected something similar this year, but February passed with no news from Epic Games about the upcoming World Cup or any other Fortnite competition. Finally, the company has provided an explanation for the delay.

In a recent Twitter post, Epic stated that it is working to address performance issues with Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 that have been impacting both clients and servers. Until this happens, all Season 2 competitions, including the World Cup and Champion Series, have been put on hold. Understandably, the company doesn’t want to launch competitions with large cash prizes before ironing out all bugs and potential hiccups in the game.

Since the launch of Season 2 on February 20, Fortnite players have experienced a number of bugs, such as the game’s aim assist performing inconsistently or players being slowed down if they edited while sprinting. Another bug occasionally forced players underwater even when they were on land, causing the audio to become muffled and the screen to take on a blue tint. While that issue might seem minor and even amusing, the recent glitch that caused vehicles and players to fall through the map and die could be more serious if it occurred during a tournament with cash up for grabs.

While Epic promised to keep players posted with schedule updates as soon as possible, simply hearing from the company has eased the worries of many gamers. The long silence seems to have been the biggest concern for players. Many Fortnite pro players thanked Epic for finally letting people know what was going on. Luminosity’s ‘Kiwiz’ responded to Epic’s Twitter post by stating, “Seriously don’t be scared to update the community so we actually know what’s happening.”

The Fortnite World Cup is intended to be an annual esports event, although there has thus far only been one championship, with the finals taking place back in July 2019. The tournament was divided into two categories, one for solo players and another for two-player teams, and the winner or winners took home a three million dollar cash prize. Additionally, the World Cup Creative Trials featured eight events, each focused on a different Creative game. And the Pro-Am event teamed up 50 popular Fortnite streamers and celebrities, with the cash prizes going to charity. In total, the Fortnite World Cup 2019 had a prize pool of 30 million dollars.

Fortnite was released in 2017 and is available on mobile devices, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Final Fantasy 15 made its way onto the Xbox Game Pass in February, and now players have the chance to rake up some reward points with Xbox Game Pass quest. One of this week’s Xbox Game Pass quests require players to acquire 2,000 Gil in Final Fantasy 15.
Gil is Final Fantasy 15's in-game currency that players can use to buy different items in the game, but when it comes to acquiring Gil, things get a bit tricky. However, this guide will show players how they can get their hands on a bunch of Gil to buy shiny new items and complete the Xbox Game Pass quest as well.

How to Get Gil in Final Fantasy 15

There are a bunch of different ways players can earn Gil in the game; some are easier to complete while some can take a bit of work. No matter what method players choose to get Gil in Final Fantasy 15, it’s very easy to acquire 2,000 Gil to complete the Xbox Game Pass quest. Here are the best ways to get Gil in Final Fantasy 15.

Acquiring Gil through Hunts

The best way to get Gil in the game is by taking on some lucrative Hunts. Most of the Hunts give players thousands of Gil in rewards with some reaching even six digits. However, the first few Hunts are extremely easy to complete and should be enough to net players a total of 2,000 Gil for their quests. Higher-level Hunts are tough to complete, but they offer huge rewards in the form of Gil, extra items, EXP, and AP. Players can pick up Hunts by talking to any Chef they come across in the game.
Acquiring Gil by Selling Treasures

Those who love exploring will often come across different types of items scattered around the world. Some of these items will be useful, but a lot of the stuff that players pick up can be sold for a decent amount of Gil. So, all players have to do is pick up everything they come across and pawn it off to any merchant for some cold, hard Gil.

Sometimes monsters will also drop valuable loot that players can sell for a decent payday. Upgrading Gladio’s survival skills will also increase the frequency and value of the monster drops, which means players can make more money while hunting down different monsters.

Acquiring Gil by Completing Side Quests

Similar to Hunts, side-quests also grant players some Gil for completion along with EXP. But, some are more lucrative than others, so it’s always better to participate in the more profitable questlines in the game. For example, the side-quest that requires players to take down Adamantoise rewards them a hefty 50,000 EXP and 50,000 Gil, which is a rather large sum for a marathon battle. Final Fantasy 15 offers a lot of content which means more opportunities for players to earn some in-game currency and buy valuable items.

With the announcement that the second Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass will be its last, it looks like only six more DLC characters will be coming to the popular fighting game. Thanks to a poll from the Japanese publication Inside Games, fans now have a good indication which characters are the most popular.

According to the poll, the most requested character for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate is Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series. Sora got a whopping 290 votes, with the second most voted for character getting only 91. The Kingdom Hearts games have long been popular, especially in Japan, and players have been calling for Sora's inclusion in the Smash series since Super Smash Brothers Brawl., so it's unsurprising that he took the top spot in this poll.

After Sora comes another regular on the most requested Smash DLC characters list: Dante, the hero of the Devil May Cry games. Players have long been calling for the inclusion of the white-haired pistol-wielding character in Ultimate. Now that a Devil May Cry game is on the switch, Dante's seems a bit more likely, and clearly fans are excited at the prospect.

After that, the poll gets a little bit whacky. In third place comes Monster Hunter from the Monster Hunter games, followed by Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and then 74 and 2B from NieR: Automata. Moving down the list is Crash, Waddle Dee, Sephiroth, Arle (Puyo Puyo), Steve (Minecraft), Saber (Fate), and Goku, among others. While the inclusion of some of these characters may seem unlikely, considering that the first DLC character was Piranha Plant, no character should be counted out.

It's worth noting that this is a Japanese poll, and as a result, it is skewed towards Japanese taste. This is most likely why characters who are very popular in the west are underrepresented. For example, while many American players long for Master Chief, he doesn't even show up in this poll.

While DLC has kept Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fresh, the characters have not arrived without controversy. The characters are sometimes overpowered upon release, like Byleth's guaranteed kill against donkey kong. But still, most players are looking forward to the next Fighter's Pass and are eagerly awaiting the newest characters to grace Smash Ultimate's roster.

The Nintendo Switch has been going strong since its release in 2017, but things have slowed down in the past few months when it comes to releases. There are many, many more exciting Nintendo games on the horizon, but only a few are officially confirmed to be released in 2020. That being said, Nintendo fans are a speculative bunch, and there are tons of rumblings about highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch titles that might actually come out sometime this year.

There are games of all varieties that are already confirmed, and even more that could be coming. These are five games Nintendo is releasing sometime in 2020 as well as five other games that are rumored to come out this year.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing fans haven't gotten a new mainline entry in the series since New Leaf in 2012, so there's understandably a lot of excitement for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After a few disappointing spin-off titles like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, New Horizons brings the series in all its glory to the Nintendo Switch.
Several quality of life changes are being made and multiplayer functionality is being greatly expanded, meaning this is shaping up the be the best Animal Crossing yet. Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches on Nintendo Switch on March 20.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX

PokĂ©mon spin-offs used to come out all the time in the GBA and Nintendo DS era, and PokĂ©mon Mystery Dungeon is arguably the most successful series to come out of those spin-offs. Those who played them hold the games in very high regard, but the series fell to the wayside once the Nintendo 3DS released. The 3DS did get some Mystery Dungeon titles, but they paled in comparison to the originals.

Platinum Games recently re-released Bayonetta as part of a bundle with the sci-fi action game Vanquish. Considering this, it's safe to say that many PS4 and Xbox One players are just discovering Bayonetta for the first time, and may not know how to do everything in the game. For example, some Bayonetta players on PS4 and Xbox One may not realize that it's possible to play as Jeanne instead of the titular Bayonetta, though they have to know how to do it.

In order to play as Jeanne in Bayonetta, there are a couple of different methods that players can use. One method involves the use of a cheat code of sorts, whereas the other method is going to take some significant grinding. No matter which route Bayonetta players take, they should unlock Jeanne as a playable character by the time it's all said and done.

1. Normal Method

The normal way that Bayonetta players can unlock Jeanne as a playable character in the game is by beating every chapter on Normal difficulty with a Platinum medal. This is definitely easier said than done, but it's not too bad with some practice. Bayonetta players should play through the game once, complete all the chapters to the best of their abilities, and then go back through and replay the ones that they failed to get Platinum on.
2. Vigrid Telephone Cheat

The other way to unlock Jeanne as a playable character in Bayonetta requires players to advance to Chapter 2: Vigrid, City of Deja Vu. Shortly after Verse 2, players will reach an era with three telephones. Players can input a cheat code while standing in front of the telephones to unlock Jeanne, though it will cost them 1 million Halos (Bayonetta's in-game currency). The specific telephone that Bayonetta players will want to stand in front of is the one behind the pillar.

Players will hear a chime to confirm that the cheat code has been entered properly. Simply stand in front of the telephone and input the following commands:

PS4 - Up, Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, X

Xbox One - Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A

Either method works when it comes to unlocking Jeanne as a playable character in Bayonetta. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if Jeanne is playable in the upcoming Bayonetta 3, though PS4 and Xbox One owners should note that the game will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

As part of the Pokemon Day 2020 celebrations, Game Freak introduced a special round of Raid Battles to Pokemon Sword and Shield, letting players take on several Generation 1 Pokemon as part of the festivities. Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle were all available for a time in the Raid Battle rotation, as well as the powerful Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo.

However, fans who went up against Mewtwo expecting a normal raid left with a bitter taste in their mouths and little to show for it as Mewtwo's Raid Battle had several glaring issues that really highlighted the worst parts of the Raid Battle experience.

Why Are Fans Upset?

The Mewtwo Raid in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield was quite easily the hardest Raid Battle in the game for a number of reasons. For starters, Mewtwo is an insanely difficult opponent to defeat without strong team coordination and proper Pokemon choice. Mewtwo has six moves, instead of the standard four, as well as phenomenal IVs to capitalize on the fact that Mewtwo is also Level 100.

Any unsuspecting trainer who joined in on the battle thinking it's just another raid got absolutely decimated by the Gen 1 psychic Legendary. Only those who brought in perfect type match-ups and moves were able to defeat this powerful foe. However, the difficulty was only one of the factors that fans were upset about. When players actually managed to defeat Mewtwo, they quickly learned that the Pokemon couldn't be caught, essentially ruining the whole purpose of the raid outside of getting some decent rewards.

  Why Couldn't Mewtwo Be Caught?

While Game Freak did not officially announce why Mewtwo was not able to be caught, many fans have some theories about why this was the case. First and foremost, Game Freak may have wanted to ensure that teams were not flooded with incredibly powerful Mewtwo for the foreseeable future. Currently, Mewtwo is only obtainable by transferring it through Pokemon Home from a previous title, though Mewtwo is one of the many Legendary Pokemon returning in The Crown Tundra DLC.

Since Mewtwo is one of the Pokemon tied to the new co-op game mode coming in The Crown Tundra, there is a good chance Game Freak wanted to make Mewtwo exclusive to that game mode rather than just a standard Raid Battle. Regardless of reasoning, many fans were quite upset when they managed to finally beat Mewtwo only for them to be unable to catch it. If Game Freak had been upfront about not catching Mewtwo then perhaps fans wouldn't have been quite as upset, but that won't change the disappointment in players who are currently working towards their living National Pokedex in Pokemon Home.

The Bigger Problems with Raid Battles

Raid Battles have been a selling point for Pokemon Sword and Shield, often being updated with new Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon, and while they are a fun mechanic to get some more powerful Pokemon, there are some major flaws in the system that make them less enjoyable than they could be. First and foremost is matchmaking. Getting a match with other players to take on a Raid Boss is agonizing and often times players are forced to take on powerful Pokemon with only AI-controlled teammates.

This is perhaps in part due to Sword and Shield's spotty networking functionality, or perhaps due to players changing their console times to jump ahead to battle new Raid Battle Pokemon. Regardless, the AI teammates are some of the worst teammates out there. Considering one teammate could possibly be a Magikarp and one could be a Solrock that does nothing but Cosmic Power, it's basically asking for the battle to fail.

This wouldn't be such a big deal if there wasn't the fainting penalty, where after four Pokemon faint then the Raid ends and the Pokemon escapes. This is all too common of an occurrence when playing with AI teammates, but fixing this is not so easy, as removing the fainting penalty makes it so the battle might be too easy to just force through with enough time. Perhaps if it was changed to a one-life situation then if everyone faints then the battle is over, then perhaps it would be more manageable.

It's a difficult line to walk between making a challenging encounter and making it fun for those who can't get into a match, and it's something that definitely needs addressed before The Crown Tundra. Hopefully, if other Legendary Pokemon return as part of a limited-time event, they will actually be able to be caught, so fans will be less disappointed.

What This Could Mean for The Crown Tundra DLC

With The Crown Tundra's new co-op game mode revolving around raid-like activities to catch returning Legendary Pokemon, this Mewtwo raid fiasco has some players worried about the difficulty of the encounters. Since The Crown Tundra is a ways off, Game Freak has yet to reveal the specifics of the new game mode outside of it being a co-op raid-like activity that will allow players to catch returning Legendary Pokemon.

Since the Legendary Pokemon will be cable to be caught, odds are they will be a little bit easier to battle compared to Mewtwo - though they will likely still have powerful moves and abilities that will make the encounter difficult. Without knowing the exact details of the new game mode it's hard to say how Game Freak will balance the encounter, but in a perfect world it will be balanced so that it will not require a perfectly coordinated team to pull off.

While bringing back the original starts and Mewtwo for Pokemon Day 2020 was a great idea, the execution of the Mewtwo raid left much to be desired. Since Mewtwo was Level 100 and featured more moves than a standard Pokemon, the battle was oppressively hard and even if players managed to defeat the powerful Pokemon they were unable to catch it. While the rewards were considerably better than normal Raids, fans ended the Pokemon Day celebrations feeling disappointed since Game Freak removed a key part of the Raid itself. Hopefully future Legendary Raids will be a little more forgiving (and will let players actually catch the Pokemon).

The game is little over a year old, but Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still has six more fighters left to be added to it, with Byleth from Fire Emblem Three Houses being the most recent addition in January. The second Fighter Pass for the game features one more character than the first pack which means the game still has another year of DLC and updates left at the least. Now that the first Fighter Pass has been completely added, it’s time to predict when Nintendo will reveal the start of the second one.

Even though Super Smash Bros. Ultimate already has an incredible roster, fans are still eager to see who will be joining the roster next. After the second Fighter Pass has been completely revealed and added to the game (by the end of 2021, according to Nintendo), Smash Ultimate will have a staggering total of 86 characters. There are six DLC characters that have been released for the game so far, and a pattern is evident in the way Nintendo reveals and releases them. Considering this, a new character might actually be revealed pretty soon.

Timing of Smash Ultimate DLC

Nintendo has used its Direct presentation format to showcase a lot of games over the years. Most recently, there was a Nintendo Direct that focused on the upcoming Animal Crossing New Horizons. After the release of Piranha Plant and Persona 5’s Joker, it has exclusively used this format to reveal DLC characters for Smash Ultimate. Looking at the pattern of Smash Ultimate-focused Directs, one can make a guess as to when Nintendo plans on kicking off the second Fighter Pass. The next character should be revealed sometime from mid-March to early April, with its release happening shortly after.

Byleth was announced in January and was added to the game later that month. Two months before that in November, Terry Bogard was revealed to be joining the game. Almost exactly two months before Terry’s reveal in November, Banjo and Kazooie were revealed to be joining the roster in September. In late July, Hero from the Dragon Quest series was announced as the next DLC character. All of these reveals have roughly a month and a half to two months in between them, which gives a strong indication that Nintendo could be gearing up to reveal the first character of the second and final Fighter Pass soon.

What Smash Fans Want

Fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate haven’t really been deviating from the regular group of wishlist characters that many people seemed to have gotten behind. A recent Smash Ultimate poll among a small section of Japanese gamers found that Sora from Kingdom Hearts is still a highly requested character. Although he’d be a perfect addition to the game and its style, his addition to the game would require Nintendo and Square Enix to bring Marvel/Disney to the table. Devil May Cry’s Dante is another highly requested character among fans and, just like with Square Enix, Capcom already has characters in the game, so it’s not that big of an ask.

Smash Ultimate fans from the west have also frequently requested Sora and Dante but whereas the Japanese crowd tends to favor other JRPG characters when it comes to Smash wishlists, western crowds typically and predictably tend to favor more western developed characters. For example, Ed Boon has expressed interest in seeing Mortal Kombat's Scorpion in Smash Ultimate.

Otherwise, Halo’s Master Chief is a highly requested character in the west, but in Japan, there is little to no interest in seeing him in the game. Just like with Capcom and Square Enix, Microsoft has Banjo and Kazooie in Smash Ultimate, so there is at least some sort of precedent for another collaboration. Crash Bandicoot is a fan favorite among all sides but is one of the most requested DLC characters of all time among western audiences specifically. A supposed leak has even confirmed Crash for Smash Ultimate recently. Whoever (or whatever) the next character ends up being, fans can at least expect the next Smash Ultimate DLC character to be announced soon.

To celebrate Pokemon Day on February 27, Pokemon Sword and Shield unveiled its new Mythical Pokemon Zarude. Little information has been revealed about Zarude, with the Sword and Shield website only talking about the "Rogue Monkey Pokemon" being a Dark and Grass-type ruffian that travels in packs and grows vines with medicinal properties from its neck, wrists, and feet.

That website also confirms that Zarude "can't be found through normal gameplay" in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and this is likely because it will be distributed in conjunction with Pokemon the Movie: Coco, coming to theaters in Japan on July 10, 2020. With that distinction, Zarude joins a long-running tradition of Legendary and Mythical Pokemon being the headlining names in anime movies that are released throughout the lifespan of a "Generation."

That tradition goes back to the first Pokemon movie from 1998 featuring Mew and Mewtwo, which was remade in CGI as Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution and released on Netflix for Pokemon Day 2020. A bevy of films have followed in its footsteps and often use ridiculous names with the title Pokemon: 2004's Destiny Deoxys, 2009's Arceus and the Jewel of Life, and 2014's Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction among them.

However, in the video games, some Mythical Pokemon have been treated more kindly than others. In their heyday around gen 3 and gen 4, in-game areas were often dedicated to them. Recently, the majority have only been made available through digital distribution and download codes, including a re-run of all the ones released through Black and White to celebrate the Pokemon series' 20th anniversary. It's time for Pokemon to return to more imaginative special event distribution, and Zarude could be a good place to start with the series' now 24-year history offering a few ways to approach the task.

SPECIAL IN-GAME AREAS

Generation 4 was the poster child for accessing Mythical Pokemon in special locales using event items. Celebi in Generation 2 and Deoxys in Generation 3 started the trend, but Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum are chock full of examples: Darkrai on Newmoon Island using a Member Card, Shaymin in the Flower Paradise using Oak's Letter, and Arceus in the Hall of Origin using the unreleased Azure Flute.

Generation 5 continued the trend through Victini, whose event-only Liberty Pass was distributed via a Wi-Fi code provided in a pamphlet that came with Black and White's boxes. But by the time Meloetta and Genesect came along, digital distribution was the name of the game.

This method of finding rare Pokemon was exciting, as the games had areas teasing story events which could not be activated upon first viewing. Once they were, fans were given a glimpse into how the Mythical Pokemon impact their surroundings, with Shaymin's quest in particular giving Kanto's Professor Oak interactions with Sinnoh characters well before he was added to DeNA's Pokemon Masters.

However, there's an obvious reason why it has not returned in the 3D-era. Anyone with cheating devices like a GameShark could circumvent "official channels" by walking across the ocean and finding Mythical Pokemon regardless of whether they obtained an event item. Using digital distribution keeps access to these rare monsters entirely in Game Freak's control.

SPIN-OFF GAMES

Another Mythical Pokemon from Sinnoh with an interesting backstory was Manaphy. The so-called Prince of the Sea was actually obtainable as an egg through a special mission in Pokemon Ranger, a spin-off title that came out months before Diamond and Pearl. As a result, Manaphy embodies the kind of parasocial relationship that Pokemon prides itself on: The player rescued their partner in its most vulnerable state, and then brought it with them to use in battle or contests. Add in Manaphy's status as the only Mythical Pokemon capable of breeding and there's plenty of significance to speak of.

Jirachi from Generation 3 was also obtainable through an American "Bonus Disc" for the GameCube title Pokemon Colosseum. But no story or special event was included with this distribution; just a preview of its movie Jirachi — Wish Maker.

Spin-off games are still used for Mythical Pokemon today. Meltan and Melmetal were first released through Niantic's AR mobile game Pokemon GO and are able to be used in Sword and Shield thanks to the cloud-based service Pokemon Home.

POST-GAME EPISODES

A more modern form of special events that could fit Zarude well are the post-game "episodes" seen in nearly all the 3D Pokemon games. The tradition started with the Looker Bureau quests in X and Y, but gained more prominence and a now-recurring title through Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's "Delta Episode."

To be brief, the Delta Episode climaxes with players riding Rayquaza into space to destroy a cataclysmic meteor headed for Earth. That destruction releases Deoxys and allows players to battle the alien virus in an amazingly over-the-top way compared to its original unlock method: Finding a boat ticket.

The Delta Episode is easily the most memorable 3D post-game next to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon's "Episode RR," in which players could battle all the previous evil team leaders. However that had nothing to do with Mythical Pokemon, so it's a story for another time.

X and Y could have benefitted from a more fleshed out post-game episode, particularly for the Fire and Water-type Mythical Pokemon Volcanion that seemed tailor-made for the power plants in Kalos' Lumiose Badlands. With an Expansion Pass coming for Sword and Shield, there's still an opportunity to add something for Zarude.

BETTER UTILIZED DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION

Digital distribution, in this case downloading a Pokemon via the Internet rather than an item as discussed, and using codes received from retailers often lead to boring Mythical Pokemon releases. Lazy inclusions like the Alola Region's Marshadow or the aforementioned Volcanion simply appear to be Pokedex filler with no fanfare, but Game Freak has approached the right balance of making Pokemon easy to obtain and giving them special in-game events in the past. One of the best examples is Hoopa who, strangely enough, was available to download using McDonald's Wi-Fi in 2015.

By taking Hoopa to any PokeMart in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, players could activate a conversation with an employee who received a Prison Bottle from a strange old man — the same item required to unlock Hoopa's "Unbound" form. This bit of dialogue was not much, but it added some neat in-universe lore, and gave players clues as to why Hoopa's rings could be found containing Legendary Pokemon when using the game's unique "Soaring in the Sky" feature.

WHY IT MATTERS

Pokemon is ultimately a series about partnering with creatures that become friends throughout the course of an adventure in a fantastical world. Looking at the Top 10 Pokemon of the Year list released by Google last month shows a group that includes starter Pokemon and other powerful, reliable battlers — many of whom belong to important characters in the series.

Mythical Pokemon are no different, and the ones who stand out have stories to back them up: Battling Deoxys in space during the Delta Episode, saving Manaphy's egg in Pokemon Ranger, and finding Shaymin in an area that was always there but couldn't be reached. Zarude, and all Mythical Pokemon that follow in its footsteps, need to return to this formula perfected in Generation 4. Otherwise, they will fall into the obscurity of lackluster digital distributions with the likes of Volcanion and Marshadow.

The Division 2: Warlords of New York introduces many new items and skills to the action-RPG, here's how to unlock the handy new Decoy skill.

The Division 2, the online action-RPG from Massive Entertainment, has just received its first full expansion. While three smaller DLC missions have already been added to the game, Warlords of New York brings major changes to almost every aspect of The Division 2's gameplay.

As well as a lengthy story campaign featuring a group of rogue First Wave Division Agents and a lethal biological weapon, the DLC also adds new items, gear, skills and level progression. One of the most useful of these new skills is the Decoy, which can only be obtained through the campaign. Here's how to pick it up.

Rogue First Wave Agents

The plot of Warlords of New York revolves around Aaron Keener, a former First Wave Division Agent who went rogue during the collapse of New York. After being off the grid for six months, he has returned with a new biological weapon and four powerful allies.
One of these allies is Theo Parnell, another former First Wave Division Agent, and master of drones and hacking. Parnell's technical expertise and creative use of the Decoy system makes his boss fight a real challenge, but players who manage to bring him down will be able to learn the skill themselves. Sure it's no friendly, pettable dog, but it's still a useful tool.

 The Master of Deception

As expected of an expert engineer and master of stealth technology, Parnell's boss fight involves finding him among his many decoys, and disabling the turrets that he has set up to defend himself. This is a challenge compounded by the flapping tarps and driving rain of his boss arena, set in the expansion's new New York area.

Fortunately, the Decoy skill can be more useful to players than it is to its inventor. Allowing the player to project ECHO-based holographic replicas of themselves, the skill is the perfect tool for setting up ambushes and deceiving enemies. Unfortunately, the holograms don't move or shoot, so while they're effective against AI enemies, don't expect them to be anything more than a very minor distraction against other players. Even with the PvP environment now reeling from the Exotics nerf, the Decoy skill is unlikely to become part of the meta.

A Streets of Rage 4 trailer reveals the game's fifth and final playable character along with two options for cooperative play.

At some point later this year, fans of the classic beat 'em up series Streets of Rage will finally get a new entry in Streets of Rage 4. This title will build upon the foundation established by the Streets of Rage trilogy, which released for the Sega Genesis in the 1990s, and a recently-revealed trailer is now giving fans a look at a brand new Streets of Rage 4 character as well the game's co-op features.

The new Streets of Rage 4 character is one Floyd Iraia, and it seems that he will pack quite a punch indeed. Utilizing cybernetic arms, which he received from Streets of Rage 3's Dr. Zan, Floyd has the longest reach of all of the playable characters in the game, and he can even use them to fire a laser. These offensive powers are balanced by the fact that Floyd is the title's slowest character, both in terms of movement and health recovery, and that is something that players will certainly need to remain mindful of.

To note, Floyd is the fifth and final playable character in Streets of Rage 4, with Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, Adam Hunter, and Cherry Hunter filling out the rest of the roster. Of these four characters, Axel, Blaze, and Adam are returning from other entries in the franchise, while Cherry joins Floyd as a brand new fighter, and an extensive Streets of Rage 4 gameplay video previously gave fans a look at some of these characters in action.

With respect to co-op in Streets of Rage 4, the new trailer shows off the game's multiplayer options. To begin, the game will have online capabilities that will allow two players to work together to overcome its many challenges. Additionally, Streets of Rage 4 will facilitate 4-player local co-op – a first for the series and something that many fans of beat 'em ups are likely to be excited about.

With Streets of Rage 3 26 years in the past, it is certainly high time for a new game to arrive with updated graphics and gameplay. While it remains to be seen if Floyd, his companions, and the title's co-op features will live up to fans' expectations for the title, players that love arcade classics may simply be happy to know that some developers continue to give these types of games attention.
Supermassive Games reveals new details about Little Hope, the follow-up to horror game The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan.

The response to The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan was very positive. Supermassive Games created a horror game built on gameplay from a more traditional adventure game genre, intermixed with terrific lengthy cinematics. Man of Medan was just the start of The Dark Pictures Anthology, though. Supermassive has big plans for 2020. Today the team released a new trailer teasing The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, the next game in the series, along with early release details.

Little Hope's previous release window was 2020, leaving Supermassive room for as much development time as the game needed. It has now updated that window as the horror game's development status becomes clearer. Fans of Man of Medan or new players to the series will be able to pick up and play Little Hope starting this summer.

To celebrate the announcement of Little Hope's narrowed release window, Supermassive has released a new trailer and shared some further details about the game. The new trailer doesn't offer any new gameplay, unfortunately. It features the same footage shown in the teaser trailer released on August 29. Rather, it focuses on influencer reactions to the Man of Medan, hoping to remind players just what they can look forward to later this year.

Supermassive CEO Pete Samuels offers up some new details about Little Hope. According to Samuels, Little Hope will feature four college students and their professor, "trapped and isolated in the abandoned town of Little Hope." The town itself is filled with "nightmarish visions that relentlessly pursue them through an impenetrable fog." Silent Hill fans are likely salivating at that description. Supermassive has clearly been influenced by that iconic video game horror series.

Samuels is also able to confirm that Little Hope will retain the multiplayer modes of Man of Medan. Players can play together online in Shared Story mode or play couch co-op, handing off the controller in Movie Night.

For the most part, Samuels confirms that Little Hope will be more of the same experience that was much enjoyed during Man of Medan. It'll be a heavily cinematic horror game with a movie-quality story. All of the characters can die depending on the player's choices, though they can also live if players pick the perfect path. Think of Little Hope as a sequel movie rather than a sequel game, as it doesn't appear to be iterating on its gameplay or scope.
